The bars are where it all happens – or mostly happens anyway!

We are almost, but not quite, a traditional ‘two bar’ pub. This is because the two bars are not completely separate, but are only joined by a narrow walkway past the bar – at least for the time being. Prior to the smoking ban, these were generally thought of as the ‘Public Bar’, and the ‘Lounge Bar’.

Village Bar

Now that we are completely non-smoking, we have stopped banishing non-smokers to the ‘Lounge’ bar, which in truth was not that comfortable when we took over. What we have instead is a Front, or ‘Village’ Bar, and a back, or ‘Stowey’ bar which is now our games room. Here you can play darts or pool, and watch our 37” 1080p TV. This receives all the Freeview channels, but we have decides not to pay Sky TV’s outrageous prices for the moment.

The Stowey Bar is also where our Quiz Nights and other functions take place (once we have moved the pool table). You may hire this bar for a private function, which will usually be free of charge if we are providing the catering.
