Our gardens are perhaps our
most overlooked feature, if only because they are tucked away behind the
With only one way in and out,
and walled on all sides, the gardens are safe for families with young
children. We welcome well behaved dogs,
and water is always provided for them in hot weather.
This summer, we plan to add a boule court, more external lighting, and to bring our
vegetable garden back to full productivity after last years appalling weather.
Despite the difficulties, last
year the garden saw a great crop of soft fruit: apples; pears; peaches; plums; strawberries;
raspberries; tayberries; blackberries; redcurrants;
blackcurrants and gooseberries. Our
vegetables were less of a success – apart from the runner beans – but we are
determined to do better this year.
