Whatever the time of year, the
Quantocks and the surrounding areas tempt visitors with a huge range of
activities and attractions. The area is
perhaps one of the country’s best kept secrets – and yet is easily accessible
via the M5.
Whether you are planning to
explore the area on foot, by bike, on horseback or by car, we would recommend
that you first buy Ordnance Survey Explorer Map 140 ‘Quantock Hills and
Bridgwater’ which shows all of the bridleways, cycle trails and paths in
detail, including public rights of way.
The following list of
activities and attractions is by no means exhaustive, but gives an idea of the

We are able to provide packed
lunches for walkers staying with us, and can also transport your luggage to
your next destination for a nominal fee, subject to prior arrangement.
Cycling

Again, we can provide packed lunches, and onward transport for luggage (or even bikes) by
prior arrangement. We also have a hose
for washing off all that mud, have secure bike storage
and a selection of tools that we use for our own bikes.
Riding

facilities!
However, Scotts
Riding Stables (01278 732422) about 50 metres further down St Mary’s Street can
offer overnight stays for horses, as well as parking for horse boxes and
trailers by arrangement.
If you are just passing by, we
have bar staff and waitresses who are competent riders, so finding someone to
look after the horse whilst you buy a drink should be no problem. When it’s time to leave, we do have a mounting
block on the front of the pub, but the bench across the road is a more
convenient alternative!

We are about five miles from Stockland
Lovell equestrian training and competition centre, which is one of the best
schooling facilities in the south west.
If you want to ride, but left
the horse at home, we would recommend Manor Farm at
